Tyler Deal

Tyler is the founder and lead clinician at Blue Ridge EXA, providing individual and group mental health services in North Carolina, along with workshops, consulting, and educational presentations nationwide. With a background in both art and clinical mental health counseling, Tyler brings a creative, holistic perspective to therapeutic care.

Tyler specializes in medical trauma, chronic and terminal illness, cancer, traumatic birth experiences, grief, and supporting family members affected by serious health challenges. Therapy integrates verbal and nonverbal approaches, allowing clients to process experiences in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

Drawing from Existential Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, strengths-based approaches, EMDR, and expressive arts therapies, Tyler may incorporate artmaking, visual journaling, painting, pottery, mindfulness, body-based practices, and ecotherapy. Attention is also given to attachment, trauma, neuropsychology, and the mind-body connection.

Tyler believes a trusting therapeutic relationship can help clients reconnect with their inherent strengths, wisdom, and resilience. Care is collaborative and individualized, supporting clients as they process difficult experiences, rebuild connection with themselves, and find meaning while navigating illness, loss, trauma, and significant life changes.
